• Contact the Police

• Provide your name, address and the license number of your vehicle and demand the same from the other driver

• You do not have to provide an opinion on the cause of the accident at the time of the accident and you have the right to talk to an attorney before making a statement.

• Obtain the names and addresses of witnesses

• Make notes of the accident and diagram the accident as soon as reasonably possible

• If you have any concerns or questions about your health condition, see a doctor or seek medical treatment immediately

• Promptly notify your automobile insurance company

• File an accident report within ten days

• An admission or statement of guilt can demonstrate liability for an accident

• If you are injured, you may have the right to money for your injuries, pain and suffering, disability, expenses, loss of income, and property damage

• In most cases, the time that you have to file a lawsuit is limited so act promptly

• To protect your rights, talk to an attorney before settling

• If you receive an offer to settle and then hire an attorney on a contingent fee basis, make sure the contingent fee agreement is in writing and that it is based on any additional money the attorney may obtain above the original offer
